TL;DR: Linqing, Shandong has 5,100+ bearing factories in one 50km radius. Most of the world’s mid-range ball and roller bearings pass through here. Sourcing from Linqing cuts out the traders and gets you factory-direct pricing. Here is what to know before you order.
Linqing is not on most importers’ maps. It should be. This small city in western Shandong has the densest concentration of bearing manufacturers on earth. Over 5,100 factories within a 50-kilometer radius. Ball bearings. Roller bearings. Spherical. Thrust. Ceramic. If it rolls, Linqing makes it.
The Cluster Advantage
When 5,100 factories compete in the same 50km radius, three things happen:
First, raw material costs drop. Bearing steel (GCr15) is delivered by the truckload to Linqing every day. A factory in Linqing pays less for steel than a factory in Dongguan making the same bearing because the supply chain is concentrated.
Second, specialization runs deep. One factory does only deep groove ball bearings. Another does only tapered roller. A third does only ceramic hybrids. They are not generalists. They are specialists competing on precision and price in a single subcategory.
Third, pricing is transparent. When 50 factories within walking distance all make the same 6205-2RS bearing, you cannot hide behind “special pricing.” You compare quotes and the market clears at the real price.
What Linqing Makes Best
| Bearing Type | Linqing’s Strength | Typical Grade |
|---|---|---|
| Deep groove ball bearings | The core product. 6200 and 6300 series. | P0 to P5 |
| Tapered roller bearings | Heavy-duty applications. Automotive and industrial. | P0 to P4 |
| Spherical roller bearings | Large-size. Mining and steel mills. | P0 to P4 |
| Thrust ball bearings | Axial load applications. | P0 to P5 |
| Ceramic hybrid bearings | Silicon nitride balls with steel rings. Growing segment. | P4 and above |
What to Check
Material certificates. GCr15 is the standard bearing steel. Some factories substitute lower-grade material and the bearing looks identical. It lasts 40 percent as long. Ask for the mill certificate from the steel supplier, not just the factory’s own QC report.
Noise testing. A bearing that measures correctly for dimensions can still be noisy due to poor surface finish on the raceways. Ask for noise test results (Z1, Z2, Z3 classification). For electric motor applications, Z2 minimum.
Grease. The cheapest factories fill bearings with generic lithium grease that hardens after 18 months. A bearing with cheap grease fails even if the steel is good. Specify the grease brand and grade in your order.
The Trading Company Problem
Many Linqing bearings are sold by trading companies that do not manufacture anything. They buy from the cheapest factory that week, repackage, and ship. The bearings arrive looking professional, with your brand on the box, and they are inconsistent batch to batch because the trader changed factories between your first and second order.
Ask for a photo of the production line with your order number written on a piece of paper held up next to a running machine. A factory can do this in 30 seconds. A trader cannot.
