TL;DR: The 2026 China International Supply Chain Expo ran June 22-26 in Beijing with 670 exhibitors from 85 countries. A dedicated AI zone debuted. The message was clear: China is positioning itself as supply chain anchor amid global uncertainty. For importers, the expo confirmed three trends worth paying attention to.

The world’s first national-level supply chain expo just finished its fourth edition. 670 exhibitors. 85 countries. A new AI zone. And one clear message: companies are not talking about decoupling. They are doubling down on supply chain integration.

The AI Zone Was the Real Story

For the first time, AI got its own exhibition zone. Not as a tech demo. As supply chain infrastructure. Exhibitors showed AI scheduling systems that recalculate shipping routes in seconds when a port closes. AI quality inspection that catches defects human inspectors miss. AI demand forecasting that reduces inventory waste.

For importers, this is not theoretical. A factory using AI-driven scheduling can tell you within minutes whether your order will ship on time or get delayed by port congestion. A supplier using AI QC can catch material defects before your order enters production. The technology exists now. The factories adopting it are the ones you want to work with.

Supply Chain Resilience as a Selling Point

The expo’s theme was supply chain resilience. Not just China’s resilience. The resilience of the supply chains that run through China. Exhibitors showed full ecosystems: raw material sourcing, component manufacturing, final assembly, logistics, after-sales. The message to foreign buyers was “your entire supply chain can live here safely.”

This is a direct response to years of decoupling rhetoric. China is not arguing against diversification. It is arguing that diversification is safer inside its ecosystem than outside it.

ASEAN Integration Deepens

ASEAN participation was heavy. EV battery supply chains. Renewable energy components. Food processing integration. Suzhou exports to Vietnam are up roughly 50 percent in the first half of 2026. The China-Vietnam rail corridor is running dedicated trains. Wuhan-Indonesia shipping routes are moving 620,000 tonnes of cargo at $1.4 billion in trade value since launch.

For importers, this means Southeast Asian options are increasingly integrated with Chinese supply chains, not separate from them. A factory in Vietnam that uses Chinese components benefits from the same logistics infrastructure as a factory in China.
